Transnational Gatherings: Activist Interventions with Archives
“Transnational Gatherings: Activist Interventions with Archives” was a panel discussion that took place at York University in October 2023 that featured guest artists and scholars from Brazil and Mexico: Dr. Sérgio Andrade (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro), Tais Almeida and Pablo Carvalho (Projetos Cavalcanti), Sofía Olascoaga (Curator-Scholar), and Dr. Juma Pariri (Artist-Scholar). The conversation addressed the question of how artistic interventions with archives function as a crossing of borders and bringing together of different communities.
This event was presented as part of the Arts Activism Speaker Series produced by Sensorium: Centre for Digital Arts & Technology and the Integrative Arts Program in York University’s School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design. It is organized in partnership with the Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean, Archive/Counter-Archive, VISTA, and Hemispheric Encounters.
Transnational Gatherings: Activist Interventions with Archives took place on October 26, 2023, at York University in Toronto, and included English and Portuguese translation.
