Latin American Speakers Series 2021: Rafael Lozano Hemmer
Hemispheric Encounters was delighted to co-present a fascinating lecture entitled “Antimonuments,” delivered by Mexican-born Montreal-based media artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer as part of the Latin American Speaker Series organized by our partner Sur Gallery / Latin American-Canadian Art Projects. Lozano-Hemmer presented a panoramic walkthrough of the interactive and immersive memorial works which are often installed in public places transforming sites into forums for civic engagement. This Speaker Series session was held in conjunction with the Reimagining Mourning Exhibition on view in the fall at Sur Gallery, curated by Tamara Toledo.
