ARCHIVO: Documenting Visual Artists of the Latin American Diaspora in Canada
Our partners at LACAP and Sur Gallery are delighted to share ARCHIVO, a digital platform dedicated to preserving and promoting the work of Latin American artists, Indigenous artists from the Latin American region, Latin-Caribbean artists, and those who identify as Latinx artists in Canada. Conceived in 2022, this ongoing archival project has over 130 profiles published with the biographies and contributions of the diaspora. ARCHIVO intends to digitally save, connect, and reflect on the vital work that Latin American artists have provided and contributed towards Canada’s art historical collective memory.
In partnership with Hemispheric Encounters, this is Sur Gallery’s ongoing project. They continue to accept artist biography submissions to expand ARCHIVO. Please check eligibility criteria and application instructions here.
This digital repository is dedicated to all the artists who with persistence and creativity continue to share their vision and work despite systemic erasure.
