Enfant d\u2019un v\u00e9t\u00e9ran du Vietnam frapp\u00e9 d\u2019invalidit\u00e9 totale, Jehan Roberson se consacre \u00e0 l\u2019exploration des h\u00e9ritages de la violence et de la n\u00e9gligence sanctionn\u00e9es par l\u2019\u00c9tat, des effets de la guerre chimique, de ce qui est transmis aux g\u00e9n\u00e9rations futures, ainsi que de la d\u00e9shumanisation continue des personnes noires qui demeure intrins\u00e8que au projet global am\u00e9ricain. En r\u00e9utilisant des flacons de pilules provenant des divers m\u00e9dicaments qu\u2019elle consomme, l\u2019artiste invite les membres du public \u00e0 offrir leurs propres rem\u00e8des et ordonnances pour la gu\u00e9rison. Ces rem\u00e8des ainsi sourc\u00e9s \u00e9tabliront la base d\u2019un discours po\u00e9tique, un appel collectif \u00e0 la r\u00e9paration et \u00e0 la gu\u00e9rison. Du mat\u00e9riel au physique et au psychique, CHRONIC est une performance collaborative qui nous demande de confronter les conditions chroniques avec lesquelles et dans lesquelles nous vivons tous, et de commencer \u00e0 imaginer d\u2019autres mod\u00e8les.<\/p>\n\n<p>On the Table Off the Table \u00e9tait une s\u00e9rie de performances command\u00e9es par <a href=\"https:\/\/performanceart.ca\/\">FADO Performance Art Centre<\/a> se servant de la table comme mise en contexte, sc\u00e8ne et trope. Aspirant \u00e0 une neutralit\u00e9 esth\u00e9tique ou r\u00e9clamant l\u2019attention en tant qu\u2019objet choisi, la table r\u00e9appara\u00eet tout au long de l\u2019histoire des spectacles de performance, tant\u00f4t au centre de la sc\u00e8ne, tant\u00f4t dissimul\u00e9e, bien que sous nos yeux.<\/p>\n\n<p>Dans cette s\u00e9rie, des artistes \u0153uvrant \u00e0 l\u2019intersection de l\u2019art de la performance et d\u2019un \u00e9ventail de pratiques diverses \u2014 de l\u2019\u00e9criture \u00e0 la danse, du son \u00e0 la magie \u2014 ont cr\u00e9\u00e9 des \u0153uvres qui entrent en conversation avec les traditions de performance incluant des tables, y \u00e9tant reli\u00e9es, ou les utilisant.<\/p>\n\n<p>Premi\u00e8re s\u00e9rie de spectacles en direct de FADO depuis la pand\u00e9mie(?), On the Table Off the Table s\u2019\u00e9tait donn\u00e9 pour objectif d\u2019offrir aux artistes et au public l\u2019occasion de r\u00e9apprendre ensemble \u00e0 habiter l\u2019espace de pr\u00e9sentation publique, en red\u00e9couvrant le poste de travail solitaire comme lieu de rassemblement et de jeu.<\/p>\n\n<p>La performance de Jehan Roberson a \u00e9t\u00e9 copr\u00e9sent\u00e9e par FADO et Rencontres H\u00e9misph\u00e9riques le 1er octobre 2022 \u00e0 FADO, 401 rue Richmond Ouest.
